NOBUKI MIZUMOTO “Mizumo Daily”

Bolivar Cafe / Gallery + Cafemode proudly present in association with Gallery Lara Tokyo
“Mizumo Daily” solo show by NOBUKI MIZUMOTO

Nobuki Mizumoto’s pencil drawings are a journal of memoryscapes captured from everyday matters
that pass unnoticed yet hold value for self reflection. The seemingly photorealistic finish of Nobuki’s work is actually a rendering process reaching for the pure abstract. In his realization, the process is similar to constructing a haiku in which a scene is translated within the palette of 17 characters of text. This fine tuned code can then trigger memory projections in its attempt to recreate the experience.

Nobuki Mizumoto is a recent graduate of Tokyo Zokei Unversity and is represented by Gallery Lara Tokyo. Nobuki and gallerist Yuko Wakaume will be here in person at the opening reception.

BlueWhale + Cafemode proudly present “Meet Me At The Park” by KAORU MANSOUR

Kaoru Mansour’s “Meet Me At The Park” is the third artists’ installation series at BlueWhale.

Kaoru Mansour, a native of Japan, is an artist based in Los Angeles. Her artwork has varied over the last ten years, ranging from geometric abstract paintings on paper to her more recent botanical collage elements on wooden panels. Delicately colored organic forms are covered with twenty to thirty different layers of encaustic, which gives her work a rich and highly textured appearance. Apart from being a visual artist, she has worked with various musicians as a vocalist using percussion and sound processing collaborating with such artists as Michael Whitmore, G.E. Stinson, Stuart Liebig, Joe Berardi, Nels Cline, Alex Cline, Brad Dutz, Carey Fosse and Darryl Tewes.
